One of the biggest design flaws of the i30N is the placement of the brake master cylinder and its reservoir. While the stock setup doesn’t expose the master cylinder to significant radiant heat from the exhaust, installing an aftermarket dump pipe changes that. Many aftermarket pipes either lack a heat shield entirely or don’t accommodate the factory shielding, leading to a serious issue on track-focused cars.

High exhaust temperatures frequently cause the brake master cylinder reservoir to overheat, melt, and even leak—sometimes resulting in fire. Recognising this common problem, we took action and designed a proper heat shield to protect the master cylinder reservoir.

Leveraging our years of expertise in turbo systems and heat management, we developed a performance optimised heat shield. Constructed from folded stainless steel, it mounts directly to the factory bolting locations. The shield is reinforced with motorsport-grade heat-resistant material, expertly welded to reflect radiant heat away from the brake master cylinder, significantly reducing temperatures.

This heat shield has been rigorously tested in track environments with outstanding results, substantially lowering master cylinder temperatures and ensuring reliable braking performance under extreme conditions.
